- Ham(240 g)
- Gruyere(180 g)
- Butter(3 tbsp)
- All-Purpose Flour(3 tbsp)
- Milk(350 ml)
- Dijon Mustard(1 tbsp)
- Nutmeg(¼ tsp)
- Black pepper(¾ tsp)
- Salt(¾ tsp)
- Lettuce(1)
- Olive oil(1 tbsp)
- Vinegar(1 tbsp)
- Mustard(1 tsp)

Preheat the oven grill to {Bread}. Grate the {Gruyère}, tear the {Lettuce}, and whisk together the {Olive oil}, {Vinegar}, {Mustard}, {Salt}, and {Black pepper} for the salad dressing.

Melt the {Butter} in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the {Flour} for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the {Milk}. Cook until thickened, then stir in the {Dijon Mustard}, {Nutmeg}, {Salt}, and {Black pepper}.

Lay out {Bread}. Spread a little béchamel over 4 slices, top with the {Ham} and half the {Gruyère}, then close with the remaining bread. Spread the rest of the béchamel over the tops and finish with the remaining {Gruyère}.

Set the sandwiches on a tray and grill until the cheese is melted and golden and the edges are crisp, about 6 minutes. Toss the {Lettuce} with the dressing while they cook.
